- Standard 1 (Michael has claimed) Design and implement engaging and flexible learning experiences for individuals and groups
I feel that designing and implementing engaging and flexible learning experiences is an important step in a student’s ability to retain knowledge. Through presenting information in a way students will remember and are familiar with I can help them not only retain but use their knowledge meaningfully. I have demonstrated this through designing engaging prezi presentations that cater for the different learning styles of my students. I have created educational science board games to help students understand reproduction as well as incorporate physical theory activities for my senior physical education classes.
- Standard 2 (Julienne) Design and implement learning experiences that develop language, literacy and numeracy
- Standard 3 (Kathryn has claimed) Design and implement intellectually challenging learning experiences
- Standard 4 Title: Design and implement learning experiences that value diversity
At The Cathedral College valuing diversity whatever form it may be is an integral part of the catholic ethos. This makes it especially important that I value all different forms of diversity in my teaching. I have incorporated indigenous perspectives in my science classes using Australian animals as examples when teaching physiology and energy systems. As mentioned, I appeal to a variety of learning styles in my teaching using Prezis with images and videos for visual learners, speaking for auditory learners and physical activities such as acting, for my kinaesthetic learners. (MR)
- Standard 5 (Del has claimed) Assess and report constructively on student learning
With the demise of acceptable forms of corporal punishment, I have taken to belittling and insulting my learners when they fail to achieve at levels that would be considered proficient by most forms of life including but not limited to; insects, sloths, pond scum and lawyers.
Looking forward to seeing your evidence Del (JM)
- Standard 6 Support personal development and participation in society
- Standard 7 Create and maintain safe and supportive learning environments
- Standard 8 (Jodie will do) Foster positive and productive relationships with families and the community
- Standard 9 (Kim) Contribute effectively to professional teams
- Standard 10 (Jannine) Commit to reflective practice and ongoing professional renewal This course of study is only one element of my learning journey as a teacher. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and will continue to be committed to learning from future experiences and through continued professional development. I believe teachers need to work collegially to form professional networks to share ideas and resources. In doing so, teachers engage in their own reflective practice to ensure the highest standards of the profession. Throughout the year, I have personally sort out and attended a number of professional development workshops to develop my skills in many key learning areas and to familiarise myself with the Australian Curriculum. I have gained skills in general coaching, primary netball and literacy and numeracy in the early years. I have also taken the opportunity to form professional networks with many physical education teachers in the community through my practicum experiences and attendance at these workshops.
